A couple months ago, I was invited to take part in a residency revolving around the themes of Multisensory Perception & Synesthesia. The residency promoted an experimental ethos that would allow the artists to come to a final conclusion through a series of experimental stimuli.
For my first ever residency, it went really well. It was certainly challenging at times, as putting up an exhibition will never appear to go smoothly, but I always learn a lot from every one I do. The team who curated the show from Camden Arts Centre too were fantastic, I felt really supported every step of the way, and they were very enthusiastic about my ideas.
STEP 1 >> 25 - 26 July
The two day symposium was a fantastic mix of scientists and artists alike, brought together by a common interest in sensory perception. From the study of sound, to spatial neuroscience, the topics really demonstrated the vast potential of the crossover between artistic and scientific influences.
STEP 2 >> 27 July - 13 August
Experimentation in the studio. This included an open studio day for visitors to come and see the progress of the artists in residence. As well as this, various events ran over the course of Step 2, which built on the original symposium; workshops, reading groups and open discussion events.
STEP 3 >> 14 - 21 August
Final exhibition.
